Our interactive platform WELLY keeps company to elderly through emphatic conversations and images. The system generates and updates a model of the emotional and health state of the elderly and orients the dialogue to monitor and improve this state. The platform helps to combat negative emotions such as loneliness, boredom, and sadness by asking questions to define the specific needs of the person and generating a dialogue combined with images that helps to address these needs. Among other things, the system can tell stories, let the elderly converse with an avatar of a relative or a friend (shown on a screen), ask questions about the elderly's life and past experiences, memorize them, and use them in future conversations. It can also assist the elderly in everyday tasks, such as cooking, and help the elderly to remember where are the elements in the house (where is the pepper, in which drawer is a specific medicine, etc.). The platform is easy to use. It runs through an Internet web-page and does not require any special device or installation.
SENTIMENTS emulates artificial beings with different personalities such
as impulsive-calm, optimistic-pessimistic,
or emphatic-antipathetic, as well as with background mental
disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, or paranoia. The interaction
with the platform is carried out through web-interfaces that show on
the screen artistic images, texts, and sounds associated to the dynamic emotions of the beings (e.g. sadness,
joy, fear, anger, boredom).
URBAI permits residents and visitors to literaly talk to a city in selected strategic points of its geography through multimedia interfaces. The cognitive platform provides a personality to the city based on emotion imitation and artificial intelligence mechanisms that are combined with detailed virtual models of cultural offers, touristic attractions, historical buildings, relevant scientists hosted by the city, shops, etc. URBAI detects the interests, needs, and emotions of the interlocutor from the ongoing conversation and guides the deployment of information about the city in an empathic multi-step dialog in order to satisfy them.
